The problem is the trusses are probably the minimum in construction code which leaves little to add storage.
Have a 2x4 running perpendicular to garage roof truss.
I have an attic above my two car garage that i have been using as a storage area.
On top of the trusses are 2x4s laid flat running perpendicular to the trusses 24 inches on center.
The cord itself has a 2x4x20 and a 2x4x8 with a gusset plate at one of the v s.
Originally i just put loose boards down over the horizontal 2x4 base of the trusses.
If you have traditional site built roof framing your storage capacity depends on the design of the framing.
It was built using pole barn construction.
The roof supports are 2x4 trusses.
I have a 24x24 attached garage and i would like to use the attic area for storage.
As demonstrated by the dent in my pickup s hood vibrations from the garage door opener can cause items to shimmy around and eventually crash down onto your car or you.
I am adding electrical to a detached garage.
To make the area more useable and secure now i want to put in 5 8 plywood over those 2x4s.
Finally make sure stored items are securely locked in place.
When i bought the 3 4 ply wood and really to a look i had to take pause.
The roof has trusses 48 inches on center the trusses are pre manufactures and made of 2x4s.
On top of the 2x4s is metal roofing.
